The Schwalbennestorgel section of the organ
This organ was built in 1869, and has sadly been silent since 2015. The good news is that you can help restore the organ to its former glory by sponsoring a pipe! But your German will have to be pretty good to work out how.
Today’s main event was hiring some €15 town bikes and heading up the Rhine to Eltville.

I liked the gondola. It was open so it wasn’t too stuffy. You could see the vineyards and the local region across the valley.
Number one would be the asparagus. Number two is flammkuchen. And the cheese from the wine place was pretty good too. I need to have editing rights to this before it goes live.
A dry riesling. We tried several throughout Rüdesheim, including at a wine tasting place that featured 160 local wines. They were all delicious!
The castle at Eltville, where there were beautiful rose gardens. We sat and had lunch and a drink by the Rhine. The rain tried to spoil the day but it quickly blew away so it was a lovely afternoon.
Yes! It is a quaint town with lots of things to do. We went to the wineries, enjoyed bike rides, and bush walks, role gondolas, and nice food including white asparagus which is only in season for three months of the year. Many restaurants had a whole asparagus menu!
The Harley Davidson festival starts tomorrow, and so I saw hundreds of motorcycles. We saw a white one with a leopard print saddle and a gold wheel. That was my favourite.
This organ was originally built in 1964 by Eduard Wagenbach of Limburg. Although this was around 215 years too late to have had any chance of being actually played by J.S. Bach, it still possesses a small piece of his heart, as required by German law.
I could not find anyone who would let me have a turn.
